Wiktionary is a multilingual, web-based project to create a free content dictionary of all words in all languages. It is collaboratively edited via a wiki, and its name is a portmanteau of the words wiki and dictionary.

Both are actually databases of entries. In Wikipedia each entry is an encylopedic article, while each entry in Wiktionary must be a word. Sometimes both a Wikipedia and a Wiktionary entry match. The difference is that Wikipedia describes the phenomenon of the entry, while Wiktionary only gives the meaning of the entry.
