Completed applications are processed within 45 business days. After an application has been accepted, a test date at a valid testing center must be scheduled within three months. The exams themselves take either two or two and a half hours and have between 80 and 100 questions.

The American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and its Board of Certification (BOC) offer over 23 certifications. Each of these certification exams has associated fees and costs, ranging from just over $100 to over $500, although most average in the $200-300 range.

Preliminary Pass/Fail: After you finish the exam a preliminary “Pass” or “Fail” will briefly display on the computer screen. You may access official results within four business-days of completion. 2. Onscreen Evaluation: You will be asked to complete an optional, onscreen evaluation.
