In computational linguistics, a frequency list is a sorted list of words (word types) together with their frequency, where frequency here usually means the number of occurrences in a given corpus, from which the rank can be derived as the position in the list.

Wiktionary is generally a secondary source for its subject matter (definitions of words and phrases) whereas Wikipedia is a tertiary source for its subject matter (topics).

Wiktionary is a multilingual, web-based project to create a free content dictionary of all words in all languages. It is collaboratively edited via a wiki, and its name is a portmanteau of the words wiki and dictionary.

As of May 2024, there are Wiktionary sites for 193 languages of which 169 are active and 24 are closed. The active sites have 39,257,065 articles, and the closed sites have 339 articles. There are 7,260,790 registered users of which 5,836 are recently active.
